A concession is a discounted fare to the full adult fare.
Concessions on the Orbus bus network in Dunedin and Queenstown are only available through using a registered Bee Card loaded with a concession. This means that when you tag on and off a bus with your Bee Card, you’ll automatically be charged the correct discounted fare.

Get cheaper bus fares with a Child or Youth concession loaded onto a registered Bee Card.
A child concession is available to those aged 5-15 years old.
A Youth concession is available to those aged 13-18 years old.

The Community Connect concession provides Community Services card holders with half-price fares on public transport with a registered Bee Card loaded with this concession.
Please note Community Connect concessions are not available for the ferry service in Queenstown.
Please remember: If your Community Services card expires (expiry date is on the card), the concession will stop and you will need to reapply with a current Community Services card.

If you are aged 65+, you are entitled to reduced fares or free fares within certain times of day with a SuperGold Bee Card if you reside in New Zealand.
Bee Cards are used in many regions within New Zealand, so it's handy if you plan on travelling around the country.
With a SuperGold Bee Card, you can receive free bus travel during 'off-peak' times on the Orbus Dunedin and Queenstown bus networks.

Also note free transfers between two buses must take place within the same peak travel periods. If your first bus is in the off-peak period and the transfer to the second bus takes place during peak time, you will be charged a fare.

If you have a SuperGold card AND a Community Services card, you will need two Bee Cards, each with a different concession. This is because the Bee Card system only allows for one concession on a Bee Card and you are entitled to two concessions.
Depending on the time of day you wish to travel, you will either use your SuperGold concession Bee Card (free off-peak travel), or your Community Connect concession Bee Card (half-price adult fares).
Use a sticker or marker pen to add a dot to tell the difference between your two different Bee Cards.

If you travel during peak times, and are a SuperGold/Community Services card holder, you may want to apply for a new Community Connect Bee Card.
