ORC flood managers are warning people to stay clear of the Silverstream at Gordon Road near Mosgiel where heavy rain today has resulted in some minor overflow of floodwater.
Rain has been constant in the area and the Silverstream is currently still rising. Spilling will increase with rising water levels.
The Taieri River at both Tirioiti and Outram is rising, as is the Waikouaiti River at its confluence.
In Dunedin the Water of Leith is receding with reduced rainfall.
The Kakanui River is receding and the Shag River is holding and rainfall is easing in the area.
People are advised to watch out for rapidly rising streams and rivers, surface flooding, slips, and hazardous driving conditions.
ORC flood managers are continuously monitoring rainfall levels and liaising with Civil Defence officials in Dunedin and Waitaki.
We will issue flood alerts and updates as necessary through Twitter, Facebook, and our website www.orc.govt.nz.
