Find out how you can make a difference through conscious consumption

The days are already getting longer and plants are budding up in preparation for spring. This is a good time to reflect on where our food comes from, who grows our food and what this means for them and their communities.
Fairtrade fortnight is coming up 7th - 20th of August. You will find ideas and resources to explore what Fairtrade means and the difference we can make by being more conscious of what we consume.
Don't hesitate to get in touch with your facilitator for ideas, resources and support. Remember to put the 13th of August 3.30pm–5pm in your diary for Enviroschools first regional zoom hui.

This activity helps you and your students to reflect on your own consumption habits. It begins by looking at how we are influenced by advertising. Then it moves into an investigation of some of the hidden costs of what we buy, consume, and ultimately throw away.
Your facilitator has more activities and resources if your students want to explore these issues in more depth.

Did you know the average kiwi eats 18kg of bananas a year?
Fairtrade have put together a great resource on bananas. Find out where bananas come from, and how the decisions we make in New Zealand affect the lives of growers on the other side of the world.
Mark this in your diary now.
This is our first region-wide zoom teacher hui. We are looking at the Enviroschools kaupapa of creating a healthy, peaceful, sustainable world through learning and taking action together.
Join us at 3.20pm so we are ready to go by 3.30pm.

We love to hear what you and your students have been up to. Share what you have learnt about your consumption habits and changes you can make.
