The bus hub is on its way! We are pleased to confirm Fulton Hogan as the contractors and expect siteworks will be completed in November this year.
The hub will have ten bus bays, covered shelters, toilets, a café/kiosk and electronic signage with realtime bus information. We’re also working towards plans for cool street art to enjoy while you wait for your bus.
One of the key benefits of the new hub will be increased connectivity. At the moment, there are seven different bus stops in the central city within a four-block radius. This makes it difficult for people to transfer between services. Having one central-city service point for public transport will make it easier to understand where and how to catch their bus for less frequent users of the service.
Construction on the hub is due to start shortly. Fulton Hogan will be working extended hours, including late nights between 6.30pm and 6am. At least one lane of the road will remain open during daytime hours, and pedestrian access will be maintained to the local retailers and police station through the construction period.
On Great King St, on the same block as the police station.
Those with businesses or property adjacent to the site will be kept informed by Fulton Hogan. ORC will keep the public up to date via its website and social channels.
