It’s an exciting time for Dunedin with growing visitor numbers and population. The number of people using public transport is growing too. Located close to the Octagon and city, the hub will be the heart of the city’s bus network, providing Dunedinites and visitors to our beautiful city a central hub with ten bus bays and amenities including shelters, bench seating, toilets, and electronic signage with information about the service. There will be free WiFi access at the hub too, just as there is on all our buses.

The hub will make transferring a breeze, as users will be able to jump off one bus and get straight onto another – making it much easier to access the free within-zone transfer and the entire network at large. The whole Dunedin network will be connected by the hub, with almost every service running through it.

With the hub in place, traffic will be taken away from busy George Street for several blocks, making George Street a more pleasant place to be.

There will be some minor changes to the network in the city to redirect routes through the hub and onto Great King Street. A new timetable will be issued to reflect these changes and made available online and in mailboxes. We’ve put a lot of thought into how this is shown on a map and we think you’ll find it much easier to see at a glance where your bus service runs and how it connects up with the wider network.

Stay safe during construction

Whether you’re in a car, on a bike, or scooter, please slow down around the construction site – and if you’re on foot, please cross only at designated crossings. Look out for and respect the workers. Follow signs and contractor’s requests so that we all stay safe through this final stage of work on the site.
