Bee Card for all ages

Thursday 25 February 2021

SuperGold peak charges start next Monday

Just a reminder for all locals aged 65 plus who have a SuperGold card and catch the bus, that this week is the last week of all-day free travel.

We will resume fare collection for SuperGold Card holders during peak travel from next Monday, 1 March 2021.

The peak travel fare with a SuperGold loaded Bee Card will be $2 per adult for a one-way trip.

The peak times are before 9am and from 3pm to 6:30pm on weekdays. Outside of those times, passengers with a SuperGold loaded Bee Card travel free of charge.

If you have a Bee Card but you haven’t loaded your SuperGold concession on it, you will pay an adult fare of $2 no matter when you travel.

If you don’t have a Bee Card at all you will pay an adult cash fare of $3 in Dunedin any time you travel.

Welcome to new and returning students!

Thousands of students are back in town, some here for the first time. Orbus was at O Week this week handing out Bee Cards and talking to students about catching the bus.

It was great to see that so many already had Bee Cards, some of whom are from other regions where the Bee Card system operates. That’s right, you can use one Bee Card for any participating region.

Whether you're new to Dunedin or not, if you’re planning on catching the bus this year, get a Bee Card for discounted travel on Orbus.

All adults (including students 19 years and over) pay only $2 per one-way trip no matter where you are travelling from. There is currently no tertiary student concession. Passengers aged 5 to 18, pay $1.20 with a Bee Card.

If you need to take two buses to get to the University or Polytech, you may still only pay $2. When a Bee Card user changes buses as part of their commute, they get a free transfer, so long as you tag on your next bus within 45 minutes of tagging off your last bus. Remember to tag off the second bus too. Always tag off.
