The Stafford Street customer service point will close from 2 August.
The Otago Regional Council (ORC) customer experience team in Dunedin will relocate from the Stafford Street office to level 2 at Philip Laing House, making Philip Laing House the destination for in-person customer enquiries from 2 August.
Several teams have been based at Philip Laing House since 2018, and that number is growing, with some staff now occupying level 6.
This move is separate from the recently announced move into the former Warehouse site on Maclaggan Street, which is still a few years away.
General Manager Governance, Culture and Customer Amanda Vercoe said Philip Laing House had a number of advantages for people making quick visits.
“We’ve had feedback that the existing Philip Laing House customer service point is more convenient to access, particularly for bus users who make up a large portion of in-person enquiries. It’s closer to the centre of town, there are bus stops right outside the building, and there’s a number of free limited time carparks in the area.
“It’s also in a relatively flat area, compared with the hill climb needed to reach the Stafford Street office.”
The customer experience team will continue to respond to emails through our phone, website, and social media as usual.
People with appointments at Stafford Street will be able to sign in using a tablet at reception, and a phone will be available for people to contact customer experience if needed.
