The Otago Regional Council has resolved to amend under Section 55 of the Resource Management Act 1991 the Regional Plan: Water for Otago from 1 June 2021.

The amendment is to ensure consistency of plan administration with the National Policy Statement for Freshwater Management 2020 (NPS-FM) through the inclusion of the following provisions:
• Clause 3.22(1) of the NPS-FM as new Policy 10.4.8 on natural inland wetlands,
• Clause 3.24(1) of the NPS-FM as new Policy 5.4.2A on rivers, and
• Clause 3.26(1) of the NPS-FM as new Objective 8.3.5 on fish passage.

The Regional Plan: Water for Otago is available on Otago Regional Council’s website www.orc.govt.nz and can be viewed at public libraries throughout Otago.
