The Otago Regional Council is required under the National environmental standards for air quality (NESAQ, 2004) to report any breach of the ambient air quality standard.
The NESAQ for 24-hour PM10 is 50 µg/m³. PM10 concentrations in June 2023 exceeded the standard as follows:
