Clutha District Council - RM15.364

Public notice is hereby given pursuant to S.95A Resource Management Act 1991 that the following application for resource consent has been received by Otago Regional Council.

Application No. RM15.364

To discharge up to 680 cubic metres per day under normal flow and up to 1,020 cubic metres per day under wet weather conditions, for the purpose of disposal of treated sewage effluent at the Waihola Oxidation Pond. A term of 35 years has been sought. The proposed discharge permit is to replace Discharge Permit 2002.046 which expired 1 September 2017. The proposal is a discretionary activity under Rules 12.A.2.1 and 12.B.4.1 of the Regional Plan: Water for Otago.

Purpose: Operating Waihola Sewage treatment plant

Location: Lake Waihola, approximately 1.2 kilometres north west of the intersection of Titri Road and Taieri Plains Highway (State Highway 1) Waihola at about NZTM2000 E1376630 N4902704

Legal Description of Property: Crown Land

Reasons for public notification: The Council must publicly notify an application if the activity will have or is likely to have adverse effects on the environment that are more than minor. It is considered that the effects on the environment will be more than minor due to the cumulative effect on water quality.

Any person may make a submission on the application, but a person who is a trade competitor of the applicant may do so only if that person is directly affected by an effect of the activity to which the application relates that:

(a)       adversely affects the environment; and

(b)       does not relate to trade competition or the effects of trade competition.
